SAN FRANCISCO, Dec 1 ― To mark the tenth anniversary of Apple's partnership with (RED) the company is offering the biggest selection of products and services ever that include a donation to the AIDS fighting charity.
Starting on December 1 all major Apple Stores around the globe will be switching their exterior lights and logos from crisp white to red to raise awareness of World AIDS Day.
But as well as raising awareness, Apple is aiming to raise even more money this year. As well as its Product (RED) line of devices where a proportion of sales always goes to charity, the company is adding special edition Beats Headphones, speakers and cases for the current generation iPhones to the lineup.
In addition, every time someone pays in store or online via Apple Pay the company will be donating US$1 (RM4.46) to the charity.
There will also be exclusive content. The Killers album Don't Waste Your Wishes will be available to buy solely on iTunes and 100 per cent of proceeds will be going to charity.
The final element is exclusive in-app (RED)-branded content in 20 of the most popular games for the iPhone and iPad including “Angry Birds 2” and “Candy Crush Jelly Saga”. Any in-app purchases of these extra features will also result in helping to fight the spread of AIDS.
“The gift of life is the most important gift that anyone can give,” said Tim Cook, Apple CEO. “Thanks to the vision and dedication of (RED), an AIDS-free generation is within our reach. We want to leave the world better than we found it, and that's why our longtime partnership with (RED) remains so important to us.” ― AFP-Relaxnews
