NEW YORK, Nov 30 — Good news for Studio Ghibli fans, not only will Spirited Away be returning to US theatres to celebrate its 15th anniversary, but a new Ghibli short film will also be screened, reports IndieWire.
The beloved Spirited Away will return to 400 cinemas across the US next month, with the release proving so popular that the distributor and Fathom Events are adding a third night due to the demand.
Fans can now catch the showing on December 4 and December 5, or at the new additional showing on Thursday, December 8 at 7pm.
In addition fans will also be treated to a brand new short film, never released before in North American theatres.
Ghiblies: Episode 2 is a 25-minute movie made up of several vignettes that feature caricatures of Studio Ghibli members as they go about their daily life. Using new animation techniques from the studio, the film is reminiscent of the visual design of Isao Takahata’s 1999 comedy My Neighbours the Yamadas, making it a must-see for Ghibli fans.
Tickets can be bought now for the showings from Fathom Events.
