LOS ANGELES, Oct 19 — Hugh Grant is one of the latest actors confirmed to be joining the cast of Paddington 2, which has started filming.
Irish actor Brendan Gleeson will also be joining the cast, which sees Hugh Bonneville, Sally Hawkins, Julie Walters, Jim Broadbent, Peter Capaldi, Madeleine Harris and Samuel Joslin all returning for the sequel to the hit film.
Ben Whishaw and Imelda Staunton will also be back to provide the voices of Paddington and Aunt Lucy.
The original movie Paddington opened in 2014 to both critical and box office success, taking US$270 million worldwide.
The sequel will see Paddington now happily settled with Brown family after his adventures in the previous movie.
However after saving up the money to buy the perfect present for his Aunt Lucy’s 100th birthday, disaster strikes again when the gift is stolen.
Grant will be joining the cast as local celebrity Phoenix Buchanan, a vain but charming actor who has now fallen on hard times, whilst Gleeson will star as “Knuckles” McGinty, a notorious safe-cracker who becomes a surprising ally for Paddington.
Director Paul King, who will also be returning for the sequel, commented on the news saying, “It has been a complete joy to return to the world of Paddington.
“It was such a delight to see his first big screen adventure embraced by audiences around the world, and I couldn’t be more excited about Hugh and Brendan joining the cast to bring his next outing to life.” — AFP-Relaxnews
