LOS ANGELES, Oct 13 — Her star ascendant after stepping from Fast and Furious to Wonder Woman, Gal Gadot has added post-World War II revenge thriller Ruin to her upcoming schedule.
Gal Gadot is the first cast member announced for Ruin, a revenge thriller set in the wake of World War II.
The movie’s synopsis has an ex-Nazi officer now hunting the remaining members of his own crack team, a twist on the sort of gritty war adventures found within Quentin Tarantino’s 2009 vision Inglourious Basterds and David Ayer’s 2016 movie Fury.
With an early 2018 production schedule in place, Gadot would be able to finish on Ruin before moving on to mid-year project Wonder Woman 2, Deadline reports.
The project is a first produced feature film from writing duo Matt and Ryan Firpo, with Justin Kurzel directing.
Kurzel won an award from the Australian Academy and five more from Cannes Film Festival with his own feature film debut, crime drama Snowtown, before returning in 2015 with Shakespearean adaptation Macbeth, featuring Michael Fassbender and Marion Cotillard in its leading roles.
Fassbender and Cotillard were again on board for Kurzel’s adaptation of video game franchise Assassin’s Creed in 2016, and while that third film was less successful at review, it more or less doubled its US$125 million (RM527.1 million) production budget on a US$240 million international box office.
In addition to 2019’s Wonder Woman 2, Gadot is also appearing in November’s superhero ensemble Justice League, an undated Justice League Part 2, and 2020’s Flashpoint, as well as underwater exploration thriller Deeper, which is being directed by Kornél Mundruczó of Cannes-winning White God fame and has Bradley Cooper as its co-star. — AFP-Relaxnews
