KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 10 — A 34-year-old man was today jailed for 12 months and fined RM1,500 by a magistrate’s court for assaulting a Bank Negara Malaysia analyst earlier this week.
Marmi Zabrin Mian, who was unrepresented, pleaded guilty to voluntarily causing hurt to Or Su Lin at the pedestrian bridge on Jalan Raja Laut this Monday, The Star Online reported.
He also admitted to a second charge of assault on the analyst, and was subsequently sentenced to three months in jail.
The victim had reportedly walked out of the central bank’s gates and was headed for the bridge when she was assaulted by the accused from behind.
The ‘kicking’ incident had earlier gone viral, with Marmi said to have committed the same offence earlier this year. His modus operandi is said to involve sneaking behind unwitting female victims and then kicking them in the back.
