KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 10 — The police have called up activist Siti Kasim after a report was lodged over her showing the middle-finger to hecklers at a forum about PAS’ Shariah Bill.
Siti told Malay Mail Online that she will be interviewed at the Shah Alam district police headquarters tonight, but she was not informed what law she is being investigated under.
“So, the Islamists got butthurt with my middle-finger salute to them during the RUU 355 FORUM. They apparently lodged a police report against me,” Siti said on her Facebook page.
“Do I regret doing it? Well, in the circumstances, I have no other way to convey my disgust to them in interrupting and heckling me. Yes, I will do it to whoever that deserve the one finger salute.
“Time for all of us not to submit to anyone who think they have the God given right to tell us how to lead our lives. Uphold our Constitution. Don’t let these Islamofascists dictate us. RISE MELAYU!!” added the lawyer and activist.
A video of Siti flipping the bird to men who jeered her at the “Pindaan Akta 355: Antara Realiti Dan Persepsi” forum last month had gone viral. The forum was about PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang’s private member’s Bill that seeks to amend the Shariah Courts (Criminal Jurisdiction) Act 1965 (Act 355) in order to expand the powers of the Shariah courts.
Siti has criticised the proposed legislation, saying that although proponents from PAS and Umno claim that it is not a hudud Bill, the suggested amendment will allow for punishments prescribed by the strict Islamic penal code.
