SETIU, Sept 23 — Police have recorded statements from 12 people to facilitate investigations into the death of a painter who was shot in Kampung Jelapang here on Monday.
Setiu police chief DSP Elias Abu Bakar said all of them, aged between 23 and 55, comprised family members, neighbours and friends to the victim.
“Further investigations into the case which covers all aspects are still ongoing in order to search for leads. We have also recorded statements from all individuals involved to facilitate investigations,” he said when contacted by Bernama here today.
Police have yet to establish the real motive behind the shooting incident. On Monday, the painter identified as Edry Alias died after he was shot at several times at his uncle’s home.
The 37-year-old man was found sprawled by his uncle at 4.30am after returning from Kuala Terengganu.
Police detained two men, aged 37 and 46, at the Setiu police station on the same day.
The duo were now being remanded for a week until Sept 26 to facilitate investigations under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder. — Bernama
