GEORGE TOWN, Nov 10 ― Penang’s Yang di-Pertua Negri Tun Abdul Rahman Abbas was admitted to the Penang Hospital on October 20 and is currently in a stable condition in the intensive care unit (ICU), state secretary Datuk Seri Farizan Darus announced today.
He said the governor was admitted due to a stomach ache and he had to undergo an intestinal operation after that.
“The operation was successfully held on October 22 and currently, he is in a stable condition,” he said in a press conference today.
He said this is to refute inaccurate news on the governor’s health condition that were published in the media.
“I visited him today and he is able to move in his ward,” he said.
He added that the governor was still in the ICU to allow for closer monitoring of his condition and visitors are only limited to his close relatives, Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng, and Farizan himself.
“This is so that he can rest and recuperate from the operation,” he said.
