KUALA LUMPUR, June 19 — Felda Global Ventures Holdings Bhd (FGV) new Acting Chairman, Tan Sri Sulaiman Mahbob, said the board of directors will find ways to improve the company’s financial performance.
Sulaiman, 68, replaced Tan Sri Isa Samad who relinquished his post today.
“Firstly, I would like to thank the prime minister (Datuk Seri Najib Razak) for trusting me with this post. Together with the board members we will work towards earning his trust especially FGV’s corporate governance,” he said.
In an exclusive interview with Bernama News Channel today, he said, all measures taken by Isa with regards to the investigations would be continued until the objective is obtained.
Sulaiman, who is also Telekom Malaysia Bhd Chairman, said FGV would improve its business model to ensure its continued competitiveness and make profits.
Prior to the appointment, Sulaiman was also a FGV board member and has served the government for 38 years in various capacities, including as director-general of the Economic Planning Unit, Prime Minister’s Department, secretary-general of the then Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs, and Under Secretary (Economics) of the Ministry of Finance.
He was chairman of Malaysian Industrial Department Authority and on the Board of National Petroleum Corporation, Federal Land Development Authority and the Companies Commission of Malaysia. — Bernama
