Sathianathan predicted Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) will beat Kedah 2-1 at Shah Alam Stadium tomorrow and win the Malaysia Cup.

However, the Felda United coach warned JDT not to be over confident as Kedah has several calibre players who can shatter its hope.

“I predict JDT will win on Saturday. This is because JDT is stronger especially in its attacking aspect,” said Sathianathan. “However JDT is rather weak in defence.

“JDT players need be alert as not to give Kedah players like Sandro and Baddrol Bakhtiar space. They are dangerous.”

Sathianathan said advantage is on JDT as its players are more confident compared to Kedah.

“JDT’s players are on their peak and confidence after winning four Super League (MSL) titles, one FA Cup and one AFC Cup in the last five years. So to me … JDT is looking good to win its first Malaysia Cup trophy.

“JDT is at its best.

“Kedah, on the other hand, needs to avoid conceding an early goal. If it manages to do that, it's hard for Kedah to chase the game.”

JDT has stressed Malaysia Cup was not an important trophy for them, putting priority on the Super League and AFC Cup but it will be great to win the prestigious trophy as well.

The Johor government meanwhile, will make an announcement today as to whether Sunday is a public holiday if JDT wins the Malaysia Cup.

Johor state secretary Azmi Rohani said the move would be made out of respect for Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar, as well as to appreciate the Southern Tigers’ determination to bring home the trophy.

“If JDT manages to win, the declaration will be made to thank the players and supporters for helping bring back the title for the first time in 25 years (Johor State team),” he said in statement.

“It is also a tribute to the support given by the people of Johor to JDT, allowing it to create success after success so far.”
