KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 6 — Ahmad Khairil Anuar Ahmad Zamri of Perak and Muhammad Hadin Azman of Felda United have been called up for the much anticipated North Korea-Malaysia match on Nov 10 in Buriram, Thailand.
National team head coach Nelo Vingada named the duo as late replacements for Baddrol Bakhtiar (Kedah) and Darren Lok (JDT), who were injured in the Malaysia Cup final match on Nov 4 (Saturday).
A Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) statement said Junior Eldstal (JDT), who was on the list of 24 players announced on Nov 1, is also missing, leaving only 23 players available for the match in Thailand.
Harimau Malaya will leave for Buriram, Thailand tomorrow for two 2019 Asia Cup qualifiers at I-Mobile Stadium with North Korea hosting the first match on Nov 10 followed by the return match on Nov 13.
The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) agreed to hold the matches at a neutral venue after three postponements since March due to diplomatic tension after the murder of Kim Jong-nam, the half-brother of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, at KL International Airport 2 (KLIA 2) on February 13.
With only three matches remaining, Malaysia are bottom of Group B with one point. Lebanon are top with 10 points after four matches, followed by Hong Kong (five points) and North Korea (two points).
