Universal’s new trailer for its take on The Mummy is terrifying.

The evil mummy, Ahmanet, played by Sofia Boutella, is on a quest to destroy the world and this undead monster will bring men to their knees.

But of course it won’t be so easy for her because we have Tom Cruise playing the lead role of Nick Morton, who is out to stop her evil machinations.

In the first trailer, we know that Cruise’s character seemingly dies in a plane crash while transporting Ahmanet but then, how can the leading man die, right?

Morton is resurrected and with the help of Annabelle Wallis’ Jenny Halsey and Jake Johnson’s Sgt. Vail, they set out to stop Ahmanet from destroying everything and everyone.

The new footage also shows Russell Crowe as Dr Henry Jekyll who warns that Ahmanet, “… will not stop until she makes our world her own”.

The new trailer debuted earlier this week at CinemaCon in Las Vegas.

The cast revealed that Cruise did all his own stunts and even succeeded in convincing his co-stars to do their own stunts, for instance the zero gravity plane crash stunt that Wallis was involved in.

An AFP report said that the scene involved 64 takes during four high altitude flights over two days, leading to “a lot of barfing,” according to writer and director Alex Kurtzman.

Kurtzman directed The Mummy from co-produced it with Chris Morgan and Sean Daniel.

The Mummy is set to hit cinemas on June 9. So, prepare to be scared… very scared.
