LOS ANGELES, Dec 2 — Showtime series Masters of Sex will not be picked up for a season five reports Deadline.
The news comes after season four of the show ended just two weeks ago, which saw Bill and Virginia getting married in the season finale.
Loosely based on Thomas Maier’s biography of the same name, the showed starred Michael Sheen and Lizzy Caplan as real-life pioneers of human sexuality William Masters and Virginia Johnson.
Commenting on the news in a statement Showtime said, “Masters of Sex was a beautifully written and acted exploration of America’s changing sexual mores. We are incredibly proud to have shared the story of Masters and Johnson for four critically-acclaimed seasons. The series will remain available across our platforms where new viewers can discover it for years to come.”
Although Masters of Sex had only gained modest ratings for Showtime, the series had enjoyed success with a number of Emmy nominations for its first three seasons, with Allison Janney winning in the guest actress in a drama series category for her role as sexually unfulfilled housewife Margaret Scully. — AFP-Relaxnews
