The Divergent actor, however, took to Twitter yesterday to offer his own account of the incident, including denying he was arrested.

“Went down to SD to see my buddy before he deployed. I wasn’t arrested I was detained bc there was no evidence to charge me with a crime,” Teller wrote in a tweet yesterday.

“Don’t believe everything you read, especially from a third-party entertainment news source trying to get clicks. Appreciate the concern.”

It appears Teller was referring to TMZ, which first reported his arrest. The gossip site also issued a statement to say they stand by their story.

Based on the TMZ report, a policeman approached the 30-year-old and his friends early Sunday morning after he showed signs of being intoxicated on a pavement.

Teller was allegedly slurring his speech and having trouble standing.

After refusing to go to a detox centre to sleep it off, as is allowed under San Diego law, Teller was later arrested for public intoxication and eventually released without bail, according to police.
