Jackson, Brie Larson and Tom Hiddleston.

The three popular actors attended a press conference in Hanoi yesterday, before shooting began today “somewhere in central Vietnam” for the reboot of the 1933 monster classic, King Kong.

It is understood that the cast and crew of Kong: Skull Island will be in Vietnam for five weeks.

The news also appears to confirm speculation that the plot will be set in the early 70s and will include a “Vietnam-era” vibe to its theme.

Prior to this, scenes were shot on Australia’s Gold Coast and Oahu, Hawaii.

Speaking at the press conference, director Jordan Vogt-Roberts said Vietnam’s “magical” landscape enticed him to bring the production to the South-east Asian nation, according to Viet Nam News.

“We immediately saw a stunningly beautiful sight that we thought was not real. It was magical,” said Vogt-Roberts.

Kong: Skull Island is slated for release in March 2017.
