HONG KONG, April 8 — John Woo, director of ‘Face/Off’ has just announced that he’s going to participate in an Emmy winning cross media project called the ‘Entertainment Experience’.

In 2011, the director of ‘Robocop’, ‘Starship Troopers’ and ‘Basic Instinct’ Paul Verhoeven lead the same project, which resulted in the first user generated movie called ‘Tricked’, which received a lot of special attention at film festivals the world over.

Also joining in the new incarnation of the project is actress Ziyi Zhang, who rose to fame after starring in ‘Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon’ and has since starred in films like ‘House Of Flying Daggers’ and ‘Memoirs of a Geisha’.

The project is set to launch at Cannes Film Festival in May this year, and aims to have China’s first user generated movie just eight months later.

Speaking about the project, John Woo has said that the reason he’s joined the”Entertainment Experience is the fact that there will be a lot of young people who have the chance to give input” not only for the movie they can make together “but also to this film industry in China in general.” — Cover Media
