Firm offers Cyberjaya businesses 1Gbps Internet speed
CYBERJAYA, April 7 — Local private company Aries Telecom (M) Berhad is now offering Internet speeds of up to 1Gbps (one gigabits per second) to business owners here for a monthly commitment fee of RM5,000.
According to Aries chairman Datuk Zuraidi Rahim, the effort to offer the region’s fastest broadband service was made together with Setia Haruman Technology Sdn Bhd (SH Tech).
The service is offered on SH Tech’s fibre optics infrastructure here.
“The fibre optics covers all buildings in Cyberjaya, thus making the 1Gpbs Infinity Broadband readily available for business users that runs on the IPv6 (Internet Protocol Version 6),” Zuraidi said at the launching of the service today.
Communications and Multimedia Minister Datuk Seri Dr Salleh Said Keruak who officiated the event welcomed the move and urged more local companies to follow suit.
In his speech, Salleh also called for the service provider to expand its reach to home users and other parts of the country.
“Even though the product is designed for business community, I believe this could be further extended to cover other segment of the market such as the education community,” he said.
Later at a press conference, Zuraidi said there were plans to expand the market to other users but did not disclose a time period as to when this could be realised.
“We would need to see our allocation and work around it but there are plans to expand our reach to other parts of the Klang Valley and also Johor and Perak,” he said.
