His money-making venture, however, was cut short following his arrest on Feb 2.

District police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohamad Taib said acting on a tip-off, police raided the suspect’s home at Sungai Mati in Matang.

“Police found a tin containing dried leaves believed to be ganja,” he said, adding that the suspect had been remanded for seven days until Friday (Feb 9).

In a separate arrest, a 39-year-old divorcee has been arrested at Kampung Banggol in Changkat Jering on Jan 31 for drug trafficking.

Mohamad said police found heroin and ganja in the suspect’s bedroom.

“The suspect’s urine tested positive for heroin,” he said, adding that the suspect had been remanded for seven days that expired today (Feb 6).

“We will apply for an extension of remand to complete our investigation,” he added.

Initial investigations showed the suspect had been taking drugs for the past 20 years.

“He only started trafficking drugs recently,” he added.

Both cases are being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
