SHAH ALAM, May 20 ― Free education and more employment opportunities are some of the aspirations proposed by students during the National Transformation 2050 (TN50) Dialogue series with students of Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) last night.

UiTM Law Faculty student Siti Nur Atikah Syed Ahmadi proposed a free education system that would open opportunity to all Malaysians to be educated and to prevent dropout.

“My aspiration is to have free education, especially in higher education by 2050, as implemented by other developed countries and for the government to provide suitable employment opportunities,” she said during a TN50 dialogue which was held with Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Datuk Nancy Shukri and attended by 1,200 UiTM students here.

Siti Nur Atikah's aspiration was one of several that were proposed by the students, apart from increasing Internet speed as achieved in developed countries, high living standards, public transportation and public safety.

“All these aspirations are collected and will be refined ... whichever that viable we will implement them according to TN50 aspirations,” said Nancy to reporters after the dialogue session.

She added that thus far, more than 30,000 aspirations were collected through a series of dialogues held across the country involving various target groups. ― Bernama
