He said the work would be carried out by the state Public Works Department (JKR) as soon as a full report had been received from the Minerals and Geoscience Department on the condition of the area.

“The restoration is for both the short and long terms to prevent a recurrence of the incident. So far, sheet piling has been carried out,” he told reporters after visiting residents affected by the landslide.

“The source of underground water will be identified as the leaking water is not from damaged water mains because the flow of water did not stop even after Syarikat Bekalan Air Selangor (Syabas) turned off water supply,” he said.

Azmin said JKR would conduct forensic investigation on buildings in the area to ensure that they were safe for occupation.

He presented RM500 to each of the 64 families forced to evacuate their homes following the landslide. — Bernama
