Authorities have declared the area a “red zone”, following this morning’s landslide that injured a motorcyclist and engulfed at least 10 vehicles.

Some residents remain hesitant about leaving their homes for fear of looting, but Deputy Minister M. Kamalanathan, the MP for Hulu Selangor where Serendah is located, urged them evacuate the area.

He assured them that authorities will ensure there is adequate security.

“The police have given an assurance that they would put enough people to guard the houses,” he was quoted as saying by The Star on its website today.
