The project was previously expected to be ready only in 2027.

Najib who is also finance minister also announced allocations for a number of infrastructure projects.

To enable the completion of the Central Spine Road across the Titiwangsa mountain range that separates the developed west coast from the more rural east coast on the peninsula, the government will allocate RM230 million for the continued construction of the Raub-Bentong and Gua Musang expressways.

The government also budgeted RM55 million to subsidise rural train services from Tumpat to Gua Musang in Kelantan, a state ruled by the Opposition PAS.

The government also allocated RM95 million for the construction and refurbishment of jetties and deepening of rivers nationwide.

Putrajaya also set aside RM1 billion for its Public Transport Fund for the purchase of buses and taxis.
