Sallehan Mukhyi claimed that when the DAP had left the now-defunct Pakatan Rakyat comprising PAS, the DAP and PKR, DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng had said his party must remain in the state government to ensure that PAS does not do evil.

“Therefore, PAS needs to remain in the government and the executive councillors must continue their services so that PAS can do good works and the DAP does not do evil works,” Sallehan said in a statement.

He also accused Selangor Umno liaison committee chairman Tan Sri Noh Omar of being disappointed for failing to break up the Selangor state government comprising PKR, the DAP and PAS by attracting PAS to ally with Umno.

“YB Tan Sri Noh Omar should also learn about the meaning of ‘tahaluf’ (political consensus) and taawun’ (working together without concrete agreement); his ignorance is what caused him to ask the PAS excos to resign,” said Sallehan.

National newswire Bernama reported Noh as saying Friday that Selangor PAS were opportunists for remaining in the Selangor state government headed by PKR deputy president Datuk Seri Azmin Ali, despite the Islamist party officially cutting ties with PKR.

Sallehan reportedly said the “taawun” concept enabled PAS to stay in the Selangor state government. PAS has three state executive councillors in Selangor.

Sallehan told Noh that PAS had never plotted to overthrow Azmin’s predecessor, Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim.

“When the new Mentri Besar YAB Datuk Seri Azmin Ali was appointed, PAS is steadfast in continuing the agenda to preserve public peace and harmony. This is the PAS that YB Tan Sri Noh Omar must learn from,” he said.
