PM Najib however said he did not want to divulge much about the matter as it is currently being deliberated in the UK Courts.

“I have never given money to PAS, that is why PAS is suing Sarawak Report. We await the decision. Clare is already panicking (gelabah).

“When have we given RM90 million to PAS but I don’t want to comment much as the matter is in the courts,” Najib told Umno members today at the party’s social media convention.

The Umno President added that such stories were being propagated by the Opposition in order to “tarnish” the party and his image especially on social media.

“A lot of fake news on social media we have to correct it as they are wild accusations. As we know, you don’t need to spread the truth on social media as it is all about perception,” Najib said.

Last month, it was reported that Sarawak Report’s editor Clare Rewcastle-Brown had named former BAR Council president Datuk Ambiga Sreenevasan as the source of her accusation that PAS President’ Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang allegedly received RM90 million from Najib

The result has been a media firestorm for the former Bersih 2.0 co-chair with many from the Barisan Nasional as well as members of the Islamist party PAS calling for her to apologise or explain herself.

Until today, Ambiga has maintained her silence in view of the pending proceedings.
