LAHAD DATU, June 19 — Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman has urged members of Umno and Barisan Nasional to talk less and work more for the people.
“Show that it is indeed the work style of Umno and Barisan Nasional. Talk less and work more for the people. Let’s reduce our politicking and polemics. Concentrate on efforts to work and serve the people,” he said in his address at the ‘Iftar Ramadan Umno Zon 6’ programme here today.
His speech text was delivered by Kalabakan Division Umno chief Datuk Seri Abdul Ghapur Salleh. Also present at the event were Silam Division Umno chief Datuk Yusof Apdal, Tawau Division Umno chief Datuk Tawfiq Abu Bakar Titingan and Semporna UMNO acting chief Datuk Seri Nasir Tun Sakaran.
Musa also said Umno and BN must remain confident that they could overcome any challenges within the party and resolve them amicably.
He further reminded fellow leaders that positions were not important, “as what the people would evaluate are their contribution and service”.
Earlier, Yusof described Musa as a great chief minister and far-sighted leader in all aspects including the development of the state.
“Sabah under the direction of the chief minister has undergone many transformations and Lahad Datu is not excluded from the flow of progress to become an agricultural hub, besides a world class port... in fact, by the look of things, Semporna is also becoming a competitive tourism hub,” he said.
Meanwhile, Sawit Kinabalu group managing director Datuk Othman Walat handed over a dividend cheque of RM4,898,020.80 for Bagahak smallholders, which was witnessed by Abdul Ghapur. — Bernama
