IPOH, Sept 22 — A security company manager was today sentenced to 18 months imprisonment and fined RM200,106.20 by the Sessions Court here today after pleading guilty to making false salary and overtime claims.
The accused, Agu Salim Saibi, 55, was charged with committing the offence at the office of Cisco (M) Sdn Bhd in Medan Istana, Bandar Ipoh Raya here between January 2012 and May 2014.
Judge S. Indera Nehru ordered the sentence against the accused who was a former armed forces personnel to commence today.
Based on the charge sheet, Agu Salim was charged with deceiving the company he was working by submitting false claims totalling RM40, 021.24 under the name of his brother-in-law, Roslan Abu Hassan, 42, when the man was not working with the company.
As the branch manager of the company, the accused was responsible for submitting time sheets of employees to be verified by him after calculating the number of work days and public holidays for the purpose of payment.
He was charged under Section 18 of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Act 2009 and was punishable under Section 24 of the same act which carries a jail term not exceeding 20 years and a fine, upon conviction. — Bernama
