KUALA LUMPUR, May 16 — PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang has successfully undergone a valve replacement surgery at the National Heart Institute (IJN), the centre announced today.
IJN said Hadi, who suffered a leaking heart valve, is currently warded at the Intensive Care Unit of the IJN where he will remain under observation for the next few days.
“Doctors are happy that the procedure progressed as anticipated and his vital parameters thus far are stable and have advised against Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi receiving any visitors with the exception of immediate family members,” said IJN in a statement.
The heart surgery centre added that the next 48 hours were crucial in Hadi’s post-operative care.
“Earlier this morning, Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi underwent a three-hour heart surgery performed by a panel of doctors led by Datuk Seri Dr Mohd Azhari Yakub, senior consultant cardiothoracic surgeon and CEO of IJN, and Datuk Seri Dr Jeffrey Jeswant Dillon – head of cardiothoracic surgery -- and Datuk Dr Suhaini Kadiman – deputy head of anaesthesiology department,” said IJN.
PAS announced yesterday that Hadi had been admitted to hospital.
