KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 11 — Chinese Malaysians should stop being misled by the federal Opposition’s promises and instead “return to the right path”, Tan Lian Hoe who heads Gerakan’s women’s wing said today.
The Barisan Nasional (BN) component leader singled out political foe DAP from the Pakatan Harapan (PH) Opposition pact for criticism in her speech at her party’s annual general meeting here, The Star reported on its website.
“It’s time for the Chinese to be smart and to return to the right path. Every promise they made hasn’t been fulfilled and the people have been fooled for two terms,” she was quoted saying, ostensibly referring to the Opposition parties.
According to the news report, Tan then zoomed in on the DAP, accusing it of issuing statements that were “filled with lies and fact-twisting” though it was unclear if she had given any examples.
“They are blaming MCA and Gerakan to hide their shortcomings,” she was quoted saying.
Tan was also reported urging the BN’s 13 component parties not to fight over seat allocations but prioritise the coalition’s victory in the 14th general elections that must be called by August next year.
