KUANTAN, Sept 23 — The Pahang Youth Council (MBN) which has over 30,000 members has requested Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Adnan Yaakob to reconsider his decision not to contest in the 14th General Election.
Its president, Datuk Khairul Amin Osman said as patron of the Pahang MBN, the members still needed Adnan’s guidance and advice.
“As an individual who has vast experience, we still need his guidance and counsel in carrying out activities related to youth so that young people in the state get proper attention and focus, accordingly.
“He is not only experienced but has the skills to interact with various sectors of society. Nevertheless, we respect whatever stand he takes...,” he said at a press conference here today.
On September 9, when opening the Ketereh Umno division delegates meeting, Adnan expressed a desire not to contest in the next general election after holding office as mentri besar for 18 years.
Adnan, who has 30 years of being a representative of the people, however, did not want the issue to be exaggerated and handed the matter to the leadership and the Sultan of Pahang, Sultan Ahmad Shah. — Bernama
