The 48-year-old actor claimed trial to a charge under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.

He is accused of ingesting tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), the psychoactive compound found in cannabis, which is punishable by a RM5,000 fine, a two-year prison sentence, or both.

Sofi is said to have tested positive for the substance at the Petaling Jaya district police headquarters’ narcotics office at 11.15pm on February 6.

Magistrate Nurul Huda Zakariah allowed bail at RM3,000 and set March 14 for case mention.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Natasha Chin Le Jy prosecuted while Haniff Hassan represented the actor.

Sofi was arrested on February 7 and released on police bail two days later.

In a copy of Farid's January 31 police report sighted by Malay Mail, the actor/director accused Sofi along with two other artistes of spiking him with a drink, which led to his outburst at the Kota Damansara police station on January 11.

Farid is facing five charges from the incident.

Police also called in a nasyid singer named in Farid's report to give his statement.
