He said if this target was achieved, the outlets would offer more products by the end of this year.

“If it cannot be achieved, there is no point for us to set a higher target. We want to make sure that the goods offered are cheap and of quality,” he said at a media briefing on KR1M 2.0 here today.

Since its launch on Feb 4, fifty branded items have been on sale at 51 outlets throughout the country including in Kuala Lumpur, Pahang, Negeri Sembilan and Selangor.

Hamzah said that since its launch, there had been a seven per cent increase in sales and this figure was expected to go up as more goods were offered.

Hamzah said the ministry would continue to talk to manufacturers and suppliers on a strategy to ensure goods were offered to consumers at a low price. — Bernama
