NEW YORK, Dec 1 — The pop-star picked up the prize at the 30th FN Achievement Awards in New York and called the honour a “big deal.”
“It means so much, it makes me so proud to be a woman, to be a young woman from Barbados, especially. I mean, to come to America and just do this by default just because I liked to wear a certain style of shoe,” said Rihanna.
The singer launched her brand, Fenty, in conjunction with Puma in 2015 and said she wanted the Creeper to be the first thing people saw from her collection.
“I didn’t really expect people to love it the way that I do. The way that they supported it, it means too much to me.”
Footwear News is celebrating 70 years and is considered “the industry bible of the shoe business.” —Reuters
